FIRST PROFESSIONAL TO WRITE, TRANSLATE AND ACT IN BHAONAS BEYOND ASSAM

Atulananda Goswami (Atul Chandra Goswami) (b 01-03-1964), a teacher by profession and a resident of Jorhat, Assam, has established a record for becoming the first professional to write, translate, direct, and act in Bhaonas – traditional Assamese plays. Over the past five years, he has accomplished this in more than five states outside of Assam, contributing to the art of Bhaona for over four decades. Alongside his artistic endeavors, Goswami actively engages in social work, demonstrating a commitment to bettering society.

The Assam Book of Records (ABR) appreciates his craft and recognises him by adding his name to the list of state records.
